Kerry Writers’ Museum hosts a varied programme of cultural events on a year round basis. Events are regularly updated as they occur and appear on our home page.
Heritage Week 2019

Sat. 17th/24th: Listowel Guided Heritage Walk – 11 am
Join our local guides for a stroll through the historic town of Listowel to hear stories of mutiny and murder, myths and legends.
Sun. 18th: The Power of Matchmaking – 2 pm
An insight into the Dan Paddy Andy O’Sullivan archives. A chance for you to share family stories, from Kerry and further afield. We will discuss the mighty Matchmaker from the Kerry mountains.
Mon. 19th: Listowel’s Past Revealed – 8 pm
A talk presenting an overview of archaeological investigations for the Listowel Bypass. Discoveries include Bronze Age cooking sites, a possible water mill and the remains of a 19th Century structure.
Tues. 20th: Listowel’s Heritage on our Doorstep – 10 am
Discover what makes the streets and buildings of Listowel so special. Expect plenty of images – maps, photos, sketches and conversation!
Sat. 24th: William Pembroke Mulchinock – 12 noon
Learn the true story of Tralee born Mulchinock and his love affair with servant girl Mary O’Connor, the inspiration for the world renowned Rose of Tralee Festival.
Sun. 25th:The Colleen Bawn Tour – 9.30 am
To mark the 200th anniversary of the tragic murder of Ellen Hanley and join us on a coach trip to areas located with the event including Killimer and Kilrush, Co. Clare and Glin Castle & Village, Co. Limerick.
