TALES FROM THE KINGDOM
As the opening event of our 2020 festival programme we presented an evening of storytelling, poetry, music and song with the finest of local storytellers, poets, musicians and singers in the Kingdom’s cultural capital. The event was broadcast live through our Facebook page.

SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 19TH
STORY MAKING WORKSHOP
Directed by storyteller Maria Gillen, the theme of this Story Making Workshop was How stories can encapsulate resilience. Using the six-part story mechanism Maria showed participants how to make use of past resiliencies, how we can connect our current resilience in this time of Covid, and how we can make an archive of all of this for the future.

MEET OUR YOUNG TELLERS
Hosted by local storytelling legend Frances Kennedy, this event showcased the future generation of storytellers from Kerry and beyond.

FROM LISTOWEL TO NEWFOUNDLAND
We are delighted to partner with St. John’s Storytelling Festival in Newfoundland to bring you a special concert featuring some of the finest storytellers from both sides of the Atlantic.

MEET OUR FEATURED TELLER
Our featured teller Maria Gillen told tales of resilience that she has co-created, created, and collected. The session also made use of what was learned at the Story Making Workshop as examples to participants on how to create a story.

CHILDREN’S STORYTIME
Storytellers Godfrey Coppinger & Maria Gillen enthralled children with stories of myth and enchantment.

HEALING HOUR SESSION
Inspired by the famous ‘Healing Hour’ in John B. Keane’s Bar during Listowel Writers’ Week, Maria Gillen was Bean an Tí in an afternoon of storytelling, music and song featuring the best of North Kerry storytellers and artists.
