Creative Writing for Kids
5th October 2019 @ 9:30 am - 10:30 am€50
All you budding J.B. Keanes or J.K. Rowlings, take note! Kerry Writers’ Museum hosts creative writing classes for young people throughout the year. The eight week programme of classes take place on Saturdays from 9.30 to 10.30 am for children between the age of 7 and 11 years. Course participants will learn how to use their imagination and every day experiences to create stories and poems. They will also draw inspiration from the sites and landmarks in Listowel including the Castle and magnificent Georgian Square. The aim of the programme is to develop the creative writing skills of young people, to help them explore their love of writing and let their imaginations run free.
All participants of Creative Writing for Kids will be presented with a certificate of achievement on completion of the course and will be given an opportunity to read their work to family and friends at a special awards ceremony.
At Kerry Writers’ Museum we believe that creative writing is an essential part of every child’s education: that giving children a real dedicated chance and space to explore the limitlessness of their imaginations, does great things.
Classes are directed by Marion Relihan, a member of Seanchaí Writers Group & Listowel Writers’ Week, and winner of numerous writing competitions. She teaches creative writing for adults in Listowel and Ballybunion on behalf of Kerry Education and Training Board. Marion published her first book of poetry ‘Skyland’ in 2014.
The Museum’s Autumn 2019 programme of creative writing classes start on Saturday October 5th and run until November 30th.
Course fee – €50
All writing materials will be provided to participants. Places are limited so booking is advisable to secure a place on the course. This is an ideal opportunity to get started on your entry for Listowel Writers’ Week children’s competitions.
