The Feale has played a significant role in the economic, cultural and social lives of the communities which live along its banks. Steeped in history, the River is said to be named after a lady called Fial, who bathing naked in the river, dived deep down on seeing a passerby and drowned. As luck would have it the passerby happened to be her husband!

‘The River Feale – From Source to Sea’ is a 65 minute documentary, narrated by Audrey Galvin, which traces the journey of the River Feale as it rises in North Cork, flows through West Limerick and North Kerry until it enters the Shannon Estuary near Ballybunion.
